1. About Us

OAK+CLAY (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a small, independent studio based in North Yorkshire creating handmade furniture and homeware from locally sourced oak and ceramic tile.

2. Ordering and Payment

All of our pieces are made to order. Once you confirm your order, we’ll issue an invoice outlining your chosen item, specifications, and estimated lead time.
A 50% deposit is required to secure your order. The remaining balance is due two weeks prior to delivery.
Payment is accepted by bank transfer unless otherwise agreed. Ownership of the goods passes to you once full payment has been received.

3. Lead Times

Typical lead times are 3–5 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the piece and our current workload.
Because every item is individually handmade, lead times are estimates, not guarantees, though we always strive to meet them.

4. Handmade Character

Each OAK+CLAY piece is handcrafted from natural materials. Variations in tone, grain, texture, and finish are part of the design and not considered defects.
Over time or with temperature changes, grout may develop fine hairline cracks — this is normal and easily repaired using the small pot of matching grout provided with your piece.

5. Cancellations and Returns

As all items are made to order, we cannot accept cancellations or returns once production has begun.
If your item arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs so we can arrange a repair, replacement, or refund.

6. Delivery

We deliver across the UK and mainland Europe. Delivery is calculated individually based on size, weight, and destination.
We also offer free local delivery within Yorkshire and free collection from our workshop.
Please ensure there is suitable access for delivery — including doorways, staircases, and lifts — prior to ordering.

7. Care and Maintenance

Our oak is sealed but not heavily varnished or lacquered. To keep your furniture looking its best:

• Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately.

• Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

• Protect from prolonged heat or moisture.
  A light re-oil every few years will help maintain the natural finish.

8. Liability

We are not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as courier delays, weather, or material shortages.
Our liability is limited to the value of the product purchased.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
