Oak + Clay - Workshop - High Resolution-313.jpg

Our tiles are made slowly, by hand, in small batches from our North Yorkshire studio. Each one is shaped, glazed and finished individually — not pressed from a mould or produced to uniform perfection. The result is a collection of tiles with subtle variation in tone, texture and surface; pieces that feel considered, tactile and quietly distinctive.

We work with stoneware clays chosen for their durability and character, developing our own glazes to create nuanced finishes that shift gently in changing light. No two firings are ever exactly the same. Slight differences in colour, depth and movement are all part of the process, and part of what gives handmade ceramics their warmth and individuality.

Our approach is intentionally small scale and slow made. Tiles are produced in limited batches and our oak is all locally sourced, allowing us to stay close to every stage of making — from preparing clay and testing glazes to sanding edges and packing each order by hand. The process is time intensive, but we believe good objects should carry a sense of the people and materials behind them.

Our current glazes are pictured below (all of our pieces can be made in any of these)  please get in touch if you'd like to create something bespoke.
